Life in the Present: A Journal Workshop for Living in the Moment

For many young adults impacted by cancer, the present moment can feel… complicated. The body remembers things the mind wants to forget. The future feels loud and uncertain. The past shows up uninvited. This four-week journaling workshop is about gently reconnecting with right now with compassion and grace.

Across four 90-minute sessions, Jean Rowe Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Journal Therapist will guide participants through reflective journaling practices designed specifically for life after (and during) cancer. Together, we’ll explore how to ground in the present moment while living with late effects, scanxiety, shifting identities, fatigue, and the emotional whiplash that can come with survivorship and caregiving.

This series isn’t about fixing anxiety or forcing mindfulness. It’s about creating space to notice what’s real: sensations, thoughts, emotions, and building tolerance for being here without judgment. You can write, pause, doodle, or simply listen. Community is central, but sharing is always optional.

Who: Young adults ages 18–45 impacted by cancer (patients, survivors, caregivers, co-survivors)

What: A 4-week guided journaling workshop (90 minutes each week)
